Colors of Apathy
Colors of Apathy is a series of work that reflects upon how general society consciously overlooks the livelihoods, everyday sights, and experiences of people who live in poverty.
As most will avert their eyes to such unpleasant situations, only a faint memory of the existence of such individuals will remain. These sights are in direct contrast to how Singapore is portrayed in western media, and thus a large part of who we are as a society is disregarded and thus unknown. By painting and presenting the livelihoods of such individuals by using vibrant colors and abstract forms juxtaposed with grimy subject matters, I bring to light the indifferent attitudes of our society towards people living in the lower social economic statuses.
